​Rules and Constitution

1)      NAME

The Name of Aquarius Severn shall not be used without the permission of the Committee.

2)      AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

a)      To help promote Astrology and to help educate the general public as to the true nature and meaning of Astrology.

b)      To provide a forum for astrologers for the exchange of ideas and mutual learning and to encourage beginners.

c)      To provide a link with other related subjects.

d)      To arrange regular meetings, discussions, talks and social occasions.

3)      CONSTITUTION

Aquarius Severn shall consist of:-

a)      General members

b)      The Committee

4)      COMMITTEE

Aquarius Severn shall have an elected committee of no more than 5 and no less than 2 members who must individually attend at least 75% of the talks and committee meetings during the year.

5)      COMMITTEE MEETINGS

a)      A minimum of 1 week’s notice will be given before a Committee Meeting may convene.

b)      The Committee shall meet no less than 4 times annually, including the Annual General Meeting.

c)      The Committee as a whole are responsible for implementing the aims and objectives of the society.

6)      ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

a)      The Annual General Meeting will be held annually during March, provided that at least 3 members are present.

b)      The Committee will submit to the Annual General Meeting:

i)        A report of the work done by Aquarius Severn during the past year including a statement of accounts.

ii)       All other matters as directed by earlier General Meetings

c)      The following business shall be transacted at the Annual General Meetings:

i)        The consideration of adoption of the Committee’s Annual Report.

ii)       The election of Committee members.

iii)     The consideration of resolutions submitted at least 1 month prior to the date of the AGM.  Resolutions will be decided by a simple majority show of hands.

7)      FINANCES

a)      The Treasurer, as representative of the Committee shall receive all dues, donations and legacies; and shall keep accurate accounts and transact all financial business of Aquarius Severn.

b)      The rates of subscription and non-membership fees shall be determined by the Committee.

c)      The rate of payment to speakers and for premises shall be determined by the Committee.

d)      All expenditure should be authorised by at least 2 members of the Committee.

8)      MEMBERSHIP

a)      All who are in sympathy with the objectives of Aquarius Severn and will endeavour to further these objectives so far as they are able are eligible for membership.

b)      A list of members shall be kept by the Committee.

9)      AMENDMENTS TO CONSTITUTION AND RULES

The constitution and rules may be altered by the Committee and put forward for adoption by the general members.

10)  INTERPRETATION OF RULES

The Committee shall be the authority for the interpretation of the rules, and their decision is final.

11)  DISSOLUTION OF THE SOCIETY

If Aquarius Severn should be dissolved all the society’s funds shall be donated to various charities as decided by the general members.  There will be no refund of subscription to members.

12)  ADMISSION

The Committee reserve the right to refuse admission.

Aquarius Severn does not necessarily endorse and can not be held responsible for statements, actions or opinions expressed by any Speaker or Member of the Society and/or guests.
