Riots, and a volatile combination of planets

The rioting in London and other English cities over the last few days has come as a shock to most people, but it shouldn't come as a complete surprise to astrologers, since we are in the middle of a dramatic line-up of planets that has its peak of intensity between today (August 9th) and Thursday.

Uranus and Pluto have been approaching a square (90 degrees) aspect since the middle of June (see blog post on the subject below), and in the last week, Mars has entered the cardinal sign fray by ingressing into Cancer last Wednesday, since when it has been within orb of both Uranus and Pluto. Mars, is said to be in its fall in Cancer, meaning that its normally direct, assertive energies are more likely to express themselves resentfully. Today it makes the exact square to Uranus, and in the early hours of Thursday, reaches the opposition to Pluto.

A more volatile combination of planets, in a more volatile pattern, and in more volatile (or at least, fast-moving) zodiac signs, can hardly be imagined. The fact that cardinal signs are strongly configured in the UK's national charts (especially Capricorn and Cancer) shows our particular sensitivity to these energies.

It is to be hoped that once Mars moves on after Thursday's opposition to Pluto, that the energy behind the current unrest, looting and violence, will dissipate as quickly as it arose, although we also have a Full Moon (bringing heightened feelings) to contend with, this weekend.

Another possible scenario is that the unrest lasts until the 25th, when angry, resentful Mars is contained by sternly disciplinarian Saturn, currently strong in the sign of its exaltation, Libra.

The T square perfects in the early morning of Thursday 11th August at 6.14 a.m. u.k. time. By then Mars will have completed its journey from having been exactly square Uranus at four degrees twelve Aries - moving on Thursday to five degrees fourteen Cancer exactly opposite Pluto at five fourteen Capricorn.
Mars is carrying information from Uranus in Aries (sudden martial activity) to Pluto in Capricorn (mass power).
At time of writing we are still in transit between those two aspects and it won't be till that second perfection that something will emerge which fully defines this explosion (Mars square Uranus) of repressed feeling (Mars in Cancer) as it meets an immovable force (Pluto in Capricorn). My feeling is that though six hundred people are already in the cells at time of writing, the police will be taking a final opportunity to make the last of carefully targeted arrests of any or all of their usual suspects still left at liberty by dawn on Thursday (Mars opposite Pluto in Capricorn). After that the moment will have passed.
The Full Moon on Saturday, three days later, falls in the third house of the Greater London Authority Chart (Midnight. 1st April 1965). At the time of Thursdays exact Mars opposition Pluto the Moon will be at 17 Capricorn making an uncomfortable quincunx from the G L Authority's 2nd House to its 7th House North Node - a sudden shift in mood(Moon // quincunx) between the people protecting their property (Moon in the second) and their open enemies (Moon quincunx North Node in 7th). I think the corner shops trashed in the riots will begin restocking and opening for business and they will put signs in their windows saying "Looters Not Welcome."
In that GLA chart the Moon rules the 8th house, indicating an irrevocable shift in attitude and indeed at time of writing huge community spirited crowds, as effectively cyber-moblised as the rioters are spontaneously meeting up and sweeping up the mess caused by the violence. On Saturday the Full Moon in Aquarius falls in the G L Authority's 3rd House squaring its 12th House Scorpionic Neptune. By the Full Moon that Pluto/Mars ruled Neptune will have said all it has to say (Neptune square Full Moon in 3rd) about the common wealth issues (Aquarius Full Moon rules 8th) this upheaval has raised giving expression to the oppressed collective on both sides of the riot shield (Scorpionic Neptune in 12th). Sunday's newspaper headlines will celebrate the indominatable Blitz spirit of the new multicultural Londoner.

Transiting Black Moon Lilith still conjunct UK22 Sedna and Chiron, opposite transiting Saturn also shows how diverse "tribes" from different areas, including different age groups, ethnic backgrounds, gang members, etc have taken on the police. In Hackney women and girls were helping to load the barricades, and females kept lookout to warn of cops in Croydon.

We're witnessing the UK22 Saturn Return, and this requires the police and other authorities to face up to the wrong they've done in the past. Have they learned their lesson? It doesn't seem so. PM Cameron was installed last year as a Thatcher clone (Sun also in mid-Libra), and this Lilith-Saturn configuration challenges him to clean things up in the police and elsewhere. It's also challenging Clegg too (Sun in mid-Capricorn). Instead Cameron's taking a tougher line which can only spell future trouble - and initiating a very dangerous precedent.

Lilith (12th)-Saturn (6th) is also triggering the UK22 Pluto in the 3rd, by square. This has stirred up the diverse "tribes" in deprived communities because of the lack of jobs and the hidden, wounded victims of government policies. One can only wonder why Cameron and Clegg are fitted to this complex.

We've seen people being handed very stiff sentences even for very minor thefts during the riots, and this tough attitude seems designed to reposition Cameron as an old-school hardline Tory. The so-called Compassionate and even Green camouflage is being whisked away to reveal the true complexion.

The UK1922 Saturn (6th - unemployed) square Pluto (3rd - communities) opposite Sedna & Chiron (12th - prisons) complex is highlighted, in the buildup to transiting Black Moon Lilith and Saturn activating the UK22 Saturn Return this autumn. The already-overstretched prisons have been stuffed full of rioters.

We need to bear in mind that UK22 Saturn is also square the UK 1801 and UK22 Moons, representing the People. The (delayed) hardline response to the Riots seems to presage a Police-State in the making.
